Holiday Gifts for Kittens

Has a new kitten recently joined your household? If so, you’re in for some super adorable moments this holiday season! Don’t forget to get your tiny bundle of fur some gifts of her own! A local Ellicott City, MD vet lists some purrfect gifts for baby felines in this article.

Cat Tower

A cat tower is a great gift for your tiny pet. This will also help you teach little Fluffy good scratching habits from the start. Look for one that incorporates fun toys.

Automated Laser Pointer

Kitties love chasing that mysterious red dot! An automated laser pointer is a wonderful gift for your adorable pet.

Robotic Mouse

Our feline pals are predators by nature, and love to chase and pounce on things. A robotic mouse would definitely get that little motor going.

Mechanical ‘Swimming’ Fish

Although most cats don’t care for water, some felines, like Bengals, actually like to play in it. A mechanical fish may be a purrfect gift for kittens!

Catnip

Kitties don’t become sensitive to catnip until they are about six months old, on average, so if your pet is younger than that, you may want to hold off on this one. However, if your kitten is over six months old, or already seems to enjoy catnip, get her a catnip toy or even a small live catnip plant.

Vertical Space

Many cats like climbing to high vantage points, so they can get a better view of their kingdoms. Get little Fluffy a catwalk or some kitty shelves.

Pet Tunnels

Kittens love to ambush their humans by dashing out at them unexpectedly. Get your frisky buddy some pet tents or tunnels, so she can practice her sneak attacks.

Beds

Beds are a great gift for all cats. Little Fluffy will sleep quite a bit in that first year, as feline growth hormones are released during sleep cycles.

Treats

Brighten your kitten’s day by giving her a yummy snack, like some canned tuna in water or plain, cooked chicken or fish with the bones, skin, and fat removed. Store-bought treats are also fine.

Boxes

When everyone has finished opening their presents, give your furry little friend some of the empty boxes and gift bags to play in. Remember to take photos of this adorable moment!
