6 Things to Do With Your Dog This Month

Fall is officially upon us! This may very well be Fido’s favorite time of year. He gets to run and play in the sunlight, but doesn’t have to deal with the summer heat. In fact, autumn is great for spending some quality time with your dog. Read on as a local Ellicott City, MD vet lists some things to put on your to-do list.

Enjoy A Long Walk

Fall is the perfect time to take a nice stroll with your canine buddy. Grab a travel mug of tea or coffee, and head out with your furry best friend to enjoy that beautiful foliage and crisp air.

Have A Seasonal Treat

While not all of our favorite seasonal foods are suitable for dogs, there are a few things you can share with your pet. Here’s one snack that’s bound to get that cute tail going: mix 1/3 cup pureed pumpkin with ½ cup natural peanut butter, an egg, and a cup of whole-wheat flour. Add a bit of baking soda and a pinch of salt, then mix into a batter and pour into a baking pan. 40 minutes at 350 will just about do it!

Try On Winter Clothes

It won’t be long now before that cold weather starts rolling in. When you pull your heavy clothes out of storage, remember to look through Fido’s winter things, too. Make sure that all your pet’s sweaters and jackets are clean, free of rips and tears, and still fit.

Take Some Photos

Take advantage of fall’s gorgeous light and colors to take some photos of you and your furry buddy. Bring Fido to a pretty park or trail, and enlist a friend or family member to take pictures of you together.

Play

Those gorgeous autumn days offer a great chance to indulge your dog with a fun game of Fetch or Frisbee. Fido may also have fun jumping in leaves. Just be careful: sometimes snakes or other critters take up residence in leaf piles.

Cuddle

Dreary autumn days are perfect for relaxing, making some comfort food, and watching a great TV show or movie. Enjoy some down time with your furry pal. Time spent with dogs is never wasted!
