September is Happy Cat Month! Of course, if our furry pals were to weigh in on the matter, they would likely insist that every month should be Happy Cat Month. We can’t exactly disagree with that one! But how do you tell if your pet is content? After all, Fluffy can be purring and cuddly one minute, just to bite you the next. An Ellicott City, MD vet lists some signs of kitty contentment in this article.
Kitty Affection
Our feline pals may have tried to convince us that they’re cold and aloof, but they’re actually quite loving. If Fluffy likes to snuggle, sleep on you, or even just quietly hang out with you, she’s probably pretty pleased with her lot in life.
Cattitude
Cats can be a bit temperamental at times. They can also be outspoken and even bossy! You can actually tell a lot about Fluffy by when and how she acts up. If your furry little diva yells at you for being late for her breakfast, protests when you move her, or refuses to stay off the counter, you likely have a content pet … if perhaps a bratty one.
Mischief
Happy cats are often quite frisky and curious. If your furball loves to investigate, explore, and play, give yourself a pat on the back!
Kitty Luxuries
Take a look around at your home, and take note of how many things you have set out for Fluffy. Does she have kitty beds, cat toys, and perhaps a comfy window seat? Is the litterbox clean? These are all indications that you’re taking good care of your pet.
Friskiness
Our feline buddies are very playful, which is one of their most adorable traits. Fluffy is super cute when she is batting a catnip mouse or chasing that little red dot. She’s also having a blast!
Comfort
Another way to gauge your cute pet’s happiness is by how confident she is in her domain. If your kitty has no qualms about sprawling out in the middle of the floor or hopping into a basket of fresh laundry, she’s likely pretty content.
Thumbs-Up From The Vet
Is your furry buddy getting good remarks from her doctor? If so, that’s great. Healthy cats are happy cats!
